The industry leader in deploying noise and emission reduction technologies, we use electrical power instead of fuel when on the ground and only use one engine during taxiing. In coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), UPS is testing the next generation of Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B), technology that allows UPS to manage departure queues to reduce fuel use and emissions. UPS is the world’s only airline equipped with this advanced technology. Panda-monium in the Sky While every shipment is important to UPS, some receive special attention from the media. In 1999, UPS and the UPS Foundation caused “panda-monium” when they joined forces to bring two pandas to Zoo Atlanta from their home in Beijing. Lun Lun and Yang Yang flew over on their own Boeing 767, called the “Panda Express,” in custom-built transport containers to keep them safe on their journey. UPS provided logistical support and ground transportation to their new home.
